PORTFOLIO

Transform your communications.

Since earning my BA from Yale, I have served mission-driven organizations as a writer, designer, messaging strategist, and project manager.  Below are some highlights from the last decade. Contact me for more samples, or visit rlf11.contently.com

NHS NEW HAVEN

As Director of Communications & Development for Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven, I rebranded the organization, which included a new name (NHS New Haven) and a new logo.

I also developed a communications strategy for 2019 and initiated implementation of that strategy across all social media channels, eNewsletter, print collateral and on our new website.

Redesigning all print collateral & the web site involved producing all new content: copy, video & photos.

PATHFINDER at HOPKINS SCHOOL

Producing the website and  2017 Annual Report for Pathfinder Program at Hopkins School involved project management, hiring subcontractors (photographers, videographers, printers), writing the content, and designing the assets and layout.

ROI: a 36% increase in donor involvement.

Rebekah’s guidance was invaluable…  Everyone needs a messaging strategist and writer like Rebekah.

SUSTAINABLE CT

My passion for environmental stewardship has been a common thread in many of my endeavors.  As a journalist and creative writer, I have covered environmental topics including e-Waste, landmines, climate change, agricultural issues, waste management, invasive species, and wildlife rehabilitation for a variety of audiences. So working with the Institute for Sustainable Energy was a natural fit.  In less than a month, I edited sixty action documents for SustainableCT.org.

ROI: 26 early adopting municipalities when the site launched in November 2017.

THE PHILANTHROPIC INITIATIVE

Refining the messaging strategy and writing new content for The Philanthropic Initiative (TPI) meant adopting different voices to reach TPI’s three main audiences. Although the voices changed, the goal was constant: to inspire individuals, families, foundations, and corporate philanthropists to create strategic giving plans to achieve lasting impact on issues that matter to them.

STONELEIGH BURNHAM SCHOOL

Working from an existing brand brief and creative brief, I collaborated with  Stoneleigh-Burnham School to determine a messaging strategy and write the copy for their new website. They loved my headlines so much, they turned them into banners, which now line the school’s winding driveway.

What started as a volunteer PR gig for The Polus Center for Social & Economic Development evolved into grantwriting, designing projects, and placing articles in publications throughout North America. A highlight of my work with Polus was traveling with a team to Nicaragua to interview (and then write about) some of the many people Polus has helped over the years.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS

In 2012, with funding and mentoring from the International Women’s Media Foundation, I produced Real World STEM – a video based science news site for teens.

It felt great to use the screenwriting skills I honed at Yale and in Hollywood to help  women in treatment at Jordan Hospital Breast Health Center.  For this joint project with RA Vision Productions, I stayed present to the emotional and physical health of women affected by breast abnormalities.  See the video here: http://vimeo.com/24316725
